I am thrilled to announced that I was selected as the winner of the ABS Warder Clyde Allee Competition. This competition involved the submission of a 7-page manuscript as well as a 30-minute presentation to a panel of judges at the 2018 Animal Behaviour Society Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconson. I am grateful to the Animal Behaviour Society for this opportunity to present my work with so many other talented young scientists and honoured to have been chosen as the recipient of this award.

You can read more about the competition and the amazing runners-up in the Animal Behaviour Society newsletter here!

I am happy to announce that my video for NSERC's Science, Action! competition has been selected as one of the top 15 finalists and awarded a $2,500 prize! The winnings from this competition will help to support my research and the dissemination of my findings at several conferences this summer. A big thank you to everyone who watched and helped to share my research with a wider audience! If you are curious about how social interactions can be important for a solitary species, I encourage you to watch my 1-min video clip! More information can be found on my research page or by reading some of my publications.

Click on the photo above for a 60-sec snapshot of my research!
My research is currently featured as part of a national competition called "Science, Action!", sponsored by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Participants were tasked with making a 1-minute video to showcase their research, and my video has been selected as one of the top 75 entries! My video now needs as many YouTube views as possible to make it to the next round of the competition! On March 2, 2018 the videos with the most views move on to be evaluated by the NSERC judges. Contest participants will have an opportunity to win a cash prize that will help to support their research.

The video is short, entertaining (I hope!), and meant to be accessible to everyone. It only takes 60-seconds to learn some cool facts about the secret lives of squirrels!
